Gaza Al-Irada FC names Pep Guardiola honorary coach in recognition of his support for Palestine

GAZA, Feb. 03 (YPA) -The Gaza Al-Irada Amputee Football Club has officially named Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola as an “honorary coach” for their team.

The club’s players expressed deep gratitude for Guardiola’s “humanitarian stances” and his solidarity with the Palestinian people.

The team presented a framed portrait of Guardiola wearing a Keffiyeh, symbolizing the strong bond and appreciation they feel for his vocal support.

Speaking in a recorded message shared on social media, one of the team’s players said: “We send our gratitude to the world-renowned and esteemed Captain Pep Guardiola for his humanitarian stance and for standing with the Palestinian people.”

He added, “On behalf of Gaza Al-Rrada, we declare to the world that Captain Guardiola is the honorary coach of our team.”

During a training session, two players held up a portrait of Guardiola while teammates lined up along the field, saluting and applauding to express their appreciation for his support.

The training took place on an open field surrounded by damaged residential buildings, vividly illustrating the contrast between the players’ will to live and the destruction wrought by the war in Gaza.

Players trained using crutches and prosthetic limbs, continuing their exercises despite the physical challenges they face.
