Albanese calls for suspending ties with “Israel”, asserting “occupation is illegal and must end”

NEW YORK, Jan. 29 (YPA) – Francesca Albanese, the UN Special Rapporteur on the occupied Palestinian territories, has urged the international community to suspend diplomatic and bilateral relations with the Israeli occupation until it complies with international law, viewing such a move as the fundamental starting point toward achieving peace.

In this context, Albanese emphasized that “Israel” lacks any legal authority to prevent humanitarian organizations and aid workers from entering the Gaza Strip and the rest of the occupied Palestinian territories, asserting that the ongoing restrictions are a direct violation of international legal frameworks.

Furthermore, she reaffirmed that the occupation itself is fundamentally illegal and must be fully and unconditionally terminated, aligning her stance with the landmark 2024 advisory opinion issued by the International Court of Justice (ICJ).
