Hadramout Governor warns of external plot to detach province from Yemen

SANAA, Jan. 25 (YPA) – The Governor of Hadramout province (appointed by the Sanaa government), Major General Luqman Baras, has warned of ongoing plots aimed at seceding Hadramout from the Republic of Yemen.

He emphasized that current developments are designed to isolate the oil-and-mineral-rich province to create a weak entity that is easily exploited and controlled.

Baras stated that current efforts serve foreign hegemony agendas intended to dismantle Yemen into small, fragile entities.

The Governor criticized what he described as “clear contradictions” in Saudi Arabia’s stances, noting a shift from claiming to protect Yemeni unity to actively adopting disintegration projects.

He affirmed that the people of Hadramout remain committed to their national identity and unity, drawing lessons from past conflicts caused by previous partition schemes.

Baras explained that targeting Hadramout and the south is ultimately a move to besiege Sanaa and pressure it into accepting the country’s division.

The Governor concluded by reaffirming his confidence in the Sanaa leadership’s vision to build a unified Yemen with full sovereignty over its entire territory, stressing that Hadramout has historically been, and will remain, an integral part of the national choice.
