Tehran warns of “total war” in response to any attack, declares maximum alert

TEHRAN, Jan. 24 (YPA) – A senior Iranian official warned on Saturday that his country would treat any strike against its territory—regardless of its scale or nature—as “total war” that would be met with the harshest possible response.

Speaking to Reuters, the official confirmed that the Iranian Armed Forces have raised their alert levels to the peak to prepare for “worst-case scenarios,” expressing hope that the recent U.S. military buildup in the region is not intended for an actual confrontation.

These statements coincide with a declaration from the Commander of the Revolutionary Guard’s Ground Forces, General Mohammad Pakpour, who stated that “fingers are on the trigger” and military readiness is at an all-time high. This escalation follows recent U.S. and Israeli threats and the deployment of a U.S. aircraft carrier group toward the region.
