Cairo coordinates “Gaza management committee” setup; int’l force expected this spring

CAIRO, Jan. 17 (YPA) – Official Egyptian sources have revealed intensive diplomatic efforts to activate the “National Committee” for managing the Gaza Strip.

Coordination is expected with Israeli occupation authorities to facilitate the entry of committee members via the Kerem Shalom crossing under an exceptional arrangement.

The committee will be responsible for governing the Strip and maintaining security in coordination with the Palestinian Authority, aiming to end internal divisions.

Current estimates suggest the deployment of an international force within the Gaza Strip during the second quarter of this year (2026).

Cairo is planning an international reconstruction conference for March or April to secure funding for the committee’s operations, despite concerns that regional tensions might impact Gulf financial support.

Meanwhile, negotiations with U.S. and Israeli officials continue to face hurdles regarding the positioning of Israeli occupation forces and the future of resistance weaponry.
