European-American-Danish meeting on Greenland ends without agreement

COPENHAGEN, Jan. 15 (YPA) – A European-American-Danish meeting on Greenland ended without an agreement, following the US president’s decision to take control of the island instead of Denmark.

Danish Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen confirmed the continued disagreement with the United States over Greenland and rejected ideas that do not respect Danish territory and the Greenlandic people’s right to self-determination, deeming them unacceptable.

Rasmussen expressed concern over Trump’s statements indicating his desire to invade Greenland, denying any imminent threat to the island from China or Russia, as Trump claims.

It should be noted that Greenland and Denmark announced they would strengthen their military presence on the island in cooperation with NATO allies.
