European lawmakers call for suspension of partnership with “Israel” over Gaza genocide

BRUSSELS, Jan. 14 (YPA) – Leaders of the European Left Alliance, joined by human rights organizations, held a high-level political meeting in Brussels to discuss the situation in the Gaza Strip and advocate for a re-evaluation of the political and economic ties between the European Union and “Israel.”

Participating lawmakers called for the suspension of the EU-Israel association agreement, asserting that its continuation provides economic and political cover for violations in the Palestinian territories.

The event featured contributions from UN Special Rapporteur Francesca Albanese and representatives from international organizations, alongside parliamentarians from Spain, Italy, Sweden, and other European nations.

Attendees emphasized that the European response should transcend humanitarian aid to include clear political measures aimed at ending the conflict and ensuring accountability.

The meeting concluded with participants urging the European Union to prioritize a ceasefire and the cessation of economic cooperation, warning of the dire humanitarian consequences of maintaining the status quo.
