Sanaa comments on Saudi decision to dissolve pro-UAE STC

SANAA, Jan. 09 (YPA) – The Sanaa-based authority commented on the decision to dissolve the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC), under Saudi pressure.

Member of Ansarallah’s political bureau, Mohammed al-Bukhaiti, said Saudi Arabia is steering dialogue with Yemeni parties willing to travel to Riyadh in a “herd mentality, where decisions are ready and they only have to sign.

He pointed out that the STC, after being compelled to go to Riyadh under pressure, accepted the imposed decisions, a process he said effectively led to its self-dissolution, warning that a similar fate awaits the Muslim Brotherhood, referring to the Islah Party.

In 2015, Saudi Arabia asked us to go to the dialogue in Riyadh at gunpoint, but we refused and promised to discipline it, but the STC accepted, he added. The result was that it dissolved STC.

His statement was accompanied by an interview on Al Jazeera before the Saudi-led coalition launched the aggression on Yemen, adding: “It is clear that Saudi Arabia has repeated the same scenario, this time with the STC”.
