Russia explores ways to evacuate its stranded tourists from Socotra

SOCATRA, Jan. 05 (YPA) – The Russian Embassy in Yemen said it is making intensive efforts to secure the departure of its nationals currently stranded on Socotra Island due to restrictions on flights to and from the archipelago, RT reported.

In a statement, the embassy said several Russian citizens, described as tourists, are stuck on the island amid clashes between the tools of the Emirati and Saudi occupation.

It noted that the stranded individuals had traveled to Socotra for tourism purposes despite repeated advisories issued by Russia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The embassy explained that the Russian nationals are currently unable to leave Socotra due to restrictions imposed on air traffic to and from the archipelago.

It added that efforts are underway to gather information about those affected and to explore possible ways out of the situation, in coordination around the clock with Russia’s Foreign Ministry Crisis Management Center, the Russian Emergencies Ministry, relevant government bodies, and Yemeni aviation authorities.

Amid rising tensions among coalition factions in the occupied governorates, recent events have sparked concerns over how the security and political instability could affect civil aviation and passenger safety, with international bodies urging close monitoring and precautionary measures.
