“Dera Al-Watan” forces seize “37th Brigade Camp” in Hadramout, advances toward Sayoun with Saudi air support
HADRAMOUT, Jan. 02 (YPA) – Local authorities in Hadramout province, eastern Yemen announced on Friday that the Saudi-backed “Dera Al-Watan” forces have taken full control of the strategic 37th Brigade camp in the Al-Khasha’a area, following violent battles with factions of the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC).
The move is a significant military development shifting the balance of power in eastern Yemen.
Hadramout Governor in Aden government, Salem Al-Khanbashi, confirmed the successful seizure of the camp and the forces’ immediate military movement toward the city of Sayoun.
This decisive field victory was secured with intensive Saudi air cover, which carried out precision strikes against ambushes set by STC forces to impede the advance.
Al-Khanbashi declared a “camp handover operation” to reclaim state sites from what he described as “militias operating outside state authority.”
