Cold wave predicted to target highlands of Yemen

SANAA, Jan. 02 (YPA) – The National Center for Meteorology and early warning predicted on Friday a very cold wave sweeping mountainous highlands of a number of Yemeni provinces.

According to the weather bulletin, the center affirmed that cold weather would hit the provinces of Saada, Amran, Sanaa, Dhamar, Bayda, the heights of Jawf, Marib, Ibb, Dhalea, Lahj, Abyan, Shabwa, the deserts and plateaus of Mahra and Hadramaut, as well as heights of Taiz, Rayma, Mahweet and Hajjah.

The center warned citizens of the cold weather, especially the elderly, children, patients and workers during the night and early morning.

It advised farmers to take the necessary measures to protect their crops from damage.

The center also warned also fishermen and sea visitors south of the West Coast and Bab el-Mandeb of sea turbulence and rising waves.
