LONDON, Dec. 25 (YPA) – Four former senior British army officers have called on the British government to impose a complete ban on arms exports to the Israeli occupation,
This came in a letter addressed to prime minister Keir Starmer.
The officers said that the current conditions in Gaza made any return to normal relations with the Israeli government untenable, urging also the government to ban any British involvement in the occupation-owned or associated arms manufacturing companies.
The letter was signed by retired Brigadier General John Deverell, who served for more than 30 years; Sir Andrew Graham, a retired first lieutenant and former director general of the British Defense Academy; Major General Peter Currie; and Major General Charlie Herbert, both former commanders of British forces in Afghanistan.
They stressed that Israeli military practices were fundamentally different from those of the British Armed Forces, pointing to the indiscriminate use of munitions that led to what they described as disproportionate damage to civilian infrastructure and loss of civilian lives.
The officers also called for banning Israeli officers from attending British military courses and halting official visits by British military personnel to Israeli occupation.
