SANAA, Dec. 23 (YPA) – The National Center for Meteorology renewed on Wednesday its warnings of very cold weather across Yemen’s mountainous highlands and desert areas, with forecasts of frost affecting several provinces.
In its weather bulletin, the center said the cold wave is expected to impact Saada, Amran, Sanaa, Dhamar, Bayda, and the highlands of Ibb, Dhalea, Lahj, Abyan, Shabwa, Marib, and Al-Jawf, in addition to the highlands of Hajjah, Al-Mahweet, Raymah, and Taiz.
The center urged the elderly, children, patients, and night workers to take necessary precautions, and called on farmers to protect their crops from frost damage.
It also warned sea-goers, fishermen, and ship captains in the southern Red Sea coast, the Bab al-Mandeb Strait, and the Socotra archipelago of rough seas and high waves caused by strong winds, noting that coastal areas may experience partly cloudy conditions with a chance of scattered rainfall over Socotra.
