RIYADH, Dec. 23 (YPA) – Saudi Arabia has stepped up its threats against the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC), warning that it may impose international sanctions on its leader, Aidarus al-Zoubaidi, and other officials in response to their coup against Riyadh.
Saudi journalist Salman Al-Ansari wrote on X: “The STC’s stubborn policies are leading it from the illusion of victory to certain political loss. What has happened constitutes a ‘violation of agreed phases and documents’ and reflects a limited political vision.”
He added: “The STC lost a historic opportunity to engage calmly and build a genuine local partnership, instead opting for hasty decisions that weaken its position.”
Al-Ansari continued: “The southern cause is legitimate according to the outcomes of the National Dialogue, but the STC leadership has replaced its official representation in the Presidential Leadership Council with a rebellious entity that may face regional and international isolation.”
