WHO: More than 1,000 patients have died in Gaza while waiting for urgent medical evacuation

GAZA, Dec. 23 (YPA) – The World Health Organization (WHO) confirmed on Tuesday that more than 1,000 patients have died while awaiting medical evacuation from Gaza since July 2024.

WHO director-general Tedros Ghebreyesus reported that 1,092 patients died between July 2024 and November 2025, and called on countries around the world to accept patients from Gaza.

The Director-General called for the immediate resumption of medical evacuations to the West Bank and Jerusalem.

He also noted that more than 16,500 patients in Gaza are still awaiting urgent medical evacuation.
