SANAA, Nov. 26 (YPA) – The UAE continues to operate suspicious flights to the Bosaso base in Somalia’s Puntland region on the Gulf of Aden.
Flight tracking websites showed that a Russian cargo plane, IL-76TD, registration number (76842-RA) belonging to Aviason Zitotrans, departed Al-Rif Air Base in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday, heading to Bosaso Airport in Puntland.
The websites indicated that the flight of the Russian plane, which is listed on the US sanctions list (OFAC), was the second after a previous flight operated on Tuesday from Zayed Airport.
IL-76TD (EX-76022) A cargo plane belonging to Fly Sky Airlines also departed Al-Rif Air Base and arrived at Bosaso Airport.
Reports indicate that the UAE is using the port of Bosaso as a hub for smuggling weapons to bolster its armed factions in Yemen and Sudan, as well as eastern Libya.
