OSLO, Nov. 24 (YPA) – The scale of the multi-front war aimed at “disarming and dissolving Lebanon’s Hezbollah” is surprising, given the extreme imbalance of power involved, the Norwegian website “Peace Research Institute Oslo” said.
The website added that what is even more surprising was Hezbollah’s resilience in the face of the ongoing war waged against it by “powerful enemies seeking to completely destroy it”.
The Norwegian website explained that the recent war of aggression launched by “Israel” against Lebanon with the aim of destroying Hezbollah, which is still ongoing despite the ceasefire in November 2024, has represented the latest escalation in an ongoing war by the Israeli occupation and its Western allies, through using political, economic, legal and military means, to subjugate Lebanon and target the resistance.
in this context, the website stated that researchers have offered two main explanations for Hezbollah’s strength: The first posits that the secret lies in the party’s clandestine operations, while the second attributes its power to its integration within Lebanese state institutions.
However, according to the Western website, the party has skillfully defended the concept of political resistance, maintaining a delicate balance between its activities within and outside the state, in what researchers call “mirroring”.
The website further explained that this “mirroring” represented Hezbollah’s response to attempts by the United States and “Israel” to weaponize international law and international institutions, such as the Security Council, to impose a “model of Lebanese sovereignty that aligns with the American-Israeli vision and leaves no room for the party”.
It argued that Hezbollah has turned over the tables by using the same standards to defend Lebanon’s sovereign equality and territorial integrity, and has sometimes become the sole defender of these standards in the face of violations by the American-backed occupying forces.
The website argued that the recent Israeli aggression against Lebanon, backed by the United States, which resulted in approximately 2,720 civilian deaths and widespread destruction of civilian infrastructure, has reflected a significant shift in US policy toward Lebanon and represents a further step in undermining the international legal order.
It added that the US-supported “Israel” employed terrorist tactics including the bombing of pagers in civilian areas, assassinations, and the systematic shelling of densely populated areas, in an escalation exceeding that of the 2006 war.
The website concluded by saying that after decades of using what they called “legal warfare” against Hezbollah, the United States has effectively left the international legal system in favor of a “fog of chaos” to subjugate Lebanon and others in the region by force and dictates, considering that if the American-Israeli war succeeded in eliminating Hezbollah, it would not be thanks to international institutions, but rather as a result of their total collapse.
