SHABWA, Nov. 23 (YPA) – Armed clashes broke out on Saturday in the Al-Saeed district south of the city of Ataq, the capital of Shabwa province, which is under the control of factions funded by the UAE.
A local source said that the clashes erupted between elements of the Sixth Thunderbolt Brigade and unknown gunmen, following an armed attack targeting the Qanaqa checkpoint at the entrance of the Al-Masina’a area.
The sudden attack resulted in the injury of several recruits at the checkpoint, who were transferred to one of Ataq’s hospitals to receive treatment, the source added.
The source suggested that the attacking elements belong to “Al-Qaeda”, which spreads in the area with support from Islah-affiliated groups in the district.
The attack came after a military vehicle of the “Sixth Brigade” factions was targeted last Thursday by an explosive device in Wadi Sari in the Al-Masina’a area, with no reported human casualties.
