Hamas condemns Israeli strike on Ain al-Hilweh refugee camp in Lebanon

GAZA, Nov. 19 (YPA) – The Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) strongly condemned the Israeli attack on the Ain al-Hilweh refugee camp in Lebanon, calling it a horrific massacre of a densely populated civilian area and a “brutal assault” on both the Palestinian people and Lebanese sovereignty.

In a statement, Hamas said the strike is part of Israel’s ongoing attacks on Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank, as well as continued aggression against Lebanon.

The movement denied Israeli claims, calling them a “fabrication,” and affirmed that it does not maintain training facilities in Lebanon’s refugee camps.

“The Zionist attack was a barbaric aggression against our innocent Palestinian people as well as Lebanon’s sovereignty,” the statement said.

According to Hamas, the Israeli strike targeted a mini soccer field well known to residents of Ain al-Hilweh, which is usually crowded at this time.

Hamas held the Israeli occupation fully responsible for the atrocity committed against the Palestinian people and the Lebanese state.

At least 13 people were killed and several others injured in the initial toll after an Israeli drone struck a location inside Ain al-Hilweh on Tuesday evening.
