SHABWA, Nov. 18 (YPA) – The provinces of Shabwa and Hadramout had witnessed two serious security incidents that revealed the depth of tensions and divisions within the camps and factions loyal to the Saudi- and Emirati-led coalition.
Regional disputes between the UAE and Saudi Arabia among the faction’s recruits have escalated into silent assassinations within the coalition camps.
Sabri bin Makhshan, a media activist, confirmed in a post on Monday that a recruit in the Giants Brigades in the Bayhan area, Ali Abdullah Basharkhim al-Dini, was killed in his sleep by a fellow recruit inside the camp.
He stated that Al-Dini, a Hadrami recruit in the Giants Brigades, was killed by three bullets fired by a fellow recruit from the Dhalea province.
The activist bin Makhshan accused the faction leadership in Bayhan of “covering up for and protecting the perpetrator”, indicating that they have not taken any deterrent measures against the accused.
Meanwhile, dozens of recurits from Hadramout demanded that the killer be brought to justice to receive his due punishment.
This came after Hussein Mubarak Ali al-Ghunaimi al-Muhammadi al-Yubi, a recruit in the Shabwa Defense Forces, was killed last week in Bayhan district while fetching water. He was shot by a fellow recruit from the Al Thawban tribe, stemming from an old feud between the two tribes.
Separately, Salafist leader Saleh al-Rusa survived an assassination attempt on Monday in the city of Tarim in Wadi Hadramout, which is controlled by Saudi-backed factions.
Local sources in the city explained that unknown gunmen targeted al-Rusa’s vehicle with an improvised explosive device (IED) while he passing near the Najd Restaurant in the city center. No injuries were reported.
The explosion, which rocked the area, caused panic and fear among the city’s residents. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
The camps belonging to the UAE-Saudi-backed factions have become arenas for settling regional and tribal scores, fueled by pro-coalition leaders among the recruits.
