Abyan protest committee vows to escalate until fate of ‘Ashal’ is revealed

ABYAN, Oct. 30 (YPA) – The preparatory committee leading protests in Abyan Governorate demanding the release of abducted and forcibly disappeared individuals said on Thursday it would continue to escalate its campaign until the fate of several prominent figures — including Colonel Ali Ashal Al-Jaadani — and all missing residents is made public.

In its statement, the committee strongly condemned the systematic provocations carried out by the Security Belt forces affiliated with UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) against demonstrators, accusing them of blocking roads and arresting protesters in an effort to silence the voices demanding truth and justice in Abyan.

The statement described the targeting of peaceful citizens as “a cowardly and irresponsible act of bandits,” affirming that such behavior does not reflect the morals or traditions of the people of Abyan.

It reiterated its “moral and religious obligation” to continue its campaign until the fate of all forcibly disappeared and abducted people from the governorate is made known.

The committee reiterated its commitment to continue escalating protests until the fate of all abducted and forcibly disappeared residents of the governorate is clarified.

The preparatory committee urged all people of Abyan to stand together and resolutely confront the provocations and abuses committed by members of the Security Belt forces.

It further urged Abyan natives serving in pro-coalition military factions in Aden and elsewhere to avoid being drawn into actions that harm the reputation of the governorate and its residents.
