GAZA, Oct. 30 (YPA) – The Palestinian Health Ministry in Gaza said on Thursday that since the ceasefire, Israeli occupation has been blocking the entry of essential medical equipment and devices, leading to the deaths of approximately 1,000 patients.
Palestinian health officials reported that only 10% of the Strip’s medical needs have been met since the ceasefire, and currently, there are no functioning MRI machines in the Gaza Strip.
Dr. Mohammed Abu Salmiya, Director of Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza, said that since the ceasefire, only 10% of essential medical supplies have entered the Gaza Strip.
According to him, doctors are losing patients every single day because Israel continues to block the entry of essential medicines and equipment.
Dr. Abu Salmiya noted that approximately 350,000 patients with chronic diseases currently have no access to their medication due to the blockade.
He also stated that 22,000 patients need treatment abroad, including 18,000 who have completed all necessary preparations, and reported that around 1,000 patients have died as a result of the blockade and closed crossings.
Dr. Abu Salmiya emphasized ongoing efforts to restore the functionality of Gaza’s health sector.
Bashar Murad, Director of Health Programs at the Palestinian Red Crescent Society in Gaza, confirmed that there are currently no functioning MRI machines in the Strip and that “Israel” continues to prevent the entry of essential medical equipment and devices.
