Russia’s air defense forces shoot down 139 Ukrainian drones overnight

MOSCOW, Oct. 23 (YPA) -The Russian air defense shot down 139 Ukrainian drones overnight, Sputnik News agency reported, citing a statement from the country’s Ministry of Defense issued on Thursday

“During the past night, air defense systems destroyed and intercepted 139 Ukrainian fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicles: 56 over the Belgorod Region, 22 over the Bryansk Region, 21 over the Voronezh Region, 14 over the Ryazan Region, 13 over the Rostov Region, four over the Republic of Crimea, two were downed over the regions of Tambov, Volgograd, Orlovskaya, Kaluga and one drone was intercepted over the region of Kursk,” the statement read.

Kiev uses combat drones and artillery bombardment against civilians and civilian infrastructure in Russia.

In response, Russian troops carry out precision strikes using air-, sea-, and ground-launched high-precision weapons, as well as their own drones. Officials emphasized that these strikes are aimed exclusively at military sites and facilities of Ukraine’s defense industry.

The Russian “special military operation,” which began on February 24, 2022, aims to protect the residents of Donbas, who have been subjected to persecution and genocide by the Kiev regime for years, according to Moscow.
