DOHA, Oct. 19 (YPA) -Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on Sunday that Pakistan and Afghanistan have agreed to an immediate ceasefire following a round of negotiations held in the Qatari capital, Doha.
“During the negotiations, the two sides agreed to an immediate ceasefire and the establishment of mechanisms to consolidate lasting peace and stability between the two countries,” the ministry said on the X social network.
The agreement was signed by the defense ministers of Taliban and Pakistan, Muhammad Yaqoob Mujahid and Khawaja Asif, as well as delegates of Qatar and Turkey.
The ministry further noted that both delegations agreed to maintain dialogue and implement measures to monitor the ceasefire’s progress.
Th ministry expressed optimism that this diplomatic development would help reduce tensions along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border and lay the groundwork for a durable peace.
