UNICEF: Over 90% of homes in Gaza have been damaged or destroyed

GAZA, Oct. 15 (YPA) -The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has announced that over two years of war in the Gaza Strip have led to 90% of homes being damaged or destroyed.

in a statement, the organization stated in its that nine in 10 homes across Gaza have been damaged or destroyed after two years of bombardment

It added that the current level of destruction is among the highest in the world over the past decades, noting that widespread destruction has affected civilian infrastructure, including schools, hospitals, and water and electricity networks. This has left hundreds of thousands of Palestinian families homeless and without essential sources of livelihood.

Gaza’s Government Media Office has endorsed UNICEF’s figures, describing the situation as a ‘systematic genocide’ of people and infrastructure. This comes amid growing UN demands for a lasting ceasefire to prevent the collapse of civilian life.
