SHABWA, Oct. 12 (YPA) – A protest rally was staged on Sunday by dozens of residents of the Al-Naqoub area in the Usaylan district of the oil-rich Shabwa province.
In the rally, protesters demanded that their areas have to be connected to the gas-fired electricity grid.
Residents raised banners and slogans demanding that the coalition-affiliated local authority in the province and the district fulfill its obligations to the area, which suffers from a lack of electricity.
The participants emphasized their right to benefit from the electricity projects that pass through their areas, which are close to oil fields, pointing out that their areas are the closest to oil and gas fields, yet they remain deprived of the most basic services.
The protesters held the relevant authorities responsible for ending the suffering of the residents and working to connect the Al-Naqoub area and its suburbs to continuous electricity supply.
The rally warned against continuing to ignore their service demands, affirming their determination to escalate their protests and take further steps to protect their rights to development and basic services.
