WHO affirms need to resume medical evacuations from Gaza

GAZA, Oct. 11 (YPA) -The World Health Organization (WHO) on Friday affirmed the urgent need to resume medical evacuations from the Gaza Strip to the West Bank, including East Jerusalem.

WHO Spokesperson Christian Lindmeier called for the opening of all possible crossings without hindrance to facilitate the delivery of humanitarian aid, emphasizing the urgent need to resume medical evacuations from Gaza to the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and to secure flexible funding to support recovery efforts.

According to the United Nations, its agencies currently have 170,000 metric tons of food, medicine, and other humanitarian supplies prepared and ready for delivery into the Gaza Strip.

Since October 2023, over 67,000 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza, with around 170,000 wounded, mostly children and women, as a result of Israel’s two-year-long war on the Strip. Massive destruction, including the targeting of homes and infrastructure, has also led to the displacement of hundreds of thousands of people.

Meanwhile, many victims remain trapped under the rubble, with rescue and ambulance teams unable to reach them due to the ongoing aggression and destruction.
