GAZA, Oct. 08 (YPA) – The Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas condemned the Zionist piracy crime on Wednesday, following the Israeli occupation navy’s interception of the Freedom Flotilla in international waters and the kidnapping of a number of international activists in solidarity with the Gaza Strip, who were carrying urgent humanitarian aid to its besieged residents.
In a press statement, the movement said that this attack “adds to the occupation’s black record of targeting international solidarity activists, and constitutes a flagrant violation of international law and the most basic human principles and rights.”
Hamas stressed that this cowardly act reflects the terrorist and fascist mentality that governs the occupation leaders, who seek by all means to prevent the arrival of aid and silence the voices of truth. It considered the attack a new attempt to obscure the traces of the ongoing crime of genocide and starvation against our people in Gaza for two years.
The movement held the Israeli occupation fully responsible for the lives and safety of the kidnapped activists, calling on the United Nations and international human rights institutions to take urgent action to release them and prevent the recurrence of the violations suffered by previous activists in the Global Steadfastness Flotilla. It also called for the occupation leaders to be held accountable for their crimes against humanity.
In this context, the administration of the Global Steadfastness Flotilla announced, via the “X” platform, that the occupation navy attacked the Freedom Flotilla heading to Gaza, 222 kilometers from the coast of the Strip, in international waters.
The International Committee to Break the Siege on Gaza said that “Israeli” soldiers boarded a number of ships and detained their participants, while the flotilla’s surveillance cameras broadcast scenes of the attack and the arrest of the international solidarity activists.
