Brigadier general commits suicide in Lahj

LHAJ, Oct. 05 (YPA) – A brigadier general committed suicide in the Yafa’a area of ​​Lahj province, south of Yemen, due to the fourth consecutive month of unpaid salaries.

Local sources revealed that Hassan Qasim Al-Omari, who took poison to death on Saturday, was a highly skilled military officer, and had graduated from a military academy in Russia with a specialization in missile weapons prior to Yemeni unify. He had also participated in the Southern Movement since 2007.

The incident sparked shock among military and civilian circles, while some social media accounts indicated that his death was the result of a chronic illness.
