HADRAMOUT, Oct. 03 (YPA) – The UAE forces have imposed complete control over the city of Al-Hami in the coastal district of Al Shihr in Hadramaut province, eastern Yemen.
A source familiar with the matter in the district said, the UAE security support units were deployed in Al-Hami in the district as part of a plan to control the coastal districts located in the theater of operations of the Al-Ahqaf Brigade, affiliated with the Islah-run Second Military Region, in the city of Mukalla, the provincial capital.
The source explained that the “Security Support Units, led by Abu Ali Al-Hadrami, which the UAE had brought from Aden last June, had been deployed to the camps in the Mayfa’a Brom district, in a move described as provocative to the UAE-backed Hadramout Tribal Alliance.
Separately, the UAE forces command ousted Hadrami leader Mohammed Saleh Obaid from the Moral Guidance Department of the Second Military Region, following the transfer of approximately 130 officers and soldiers from the Al-Hamum tribes to the Qarat Al-Fars camp in western Hadramout.
The source indicated that the Hadrami military leader was replaced with someone from outside the governorate, and the decision was met with widespread discontent among sons of Hadramout.
