SANAA, Oct. 02 (YPA) – The Sanaa-based Ministry of foreign affairs considered on Thursday the Zionist attack on the Global Sumud Flotilla heading to Gaza a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law
In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs explained the Fourth Geneva Convention of 1949 and the First Additional Protocol of 1977 affirm that the Zionist occupation must allow the passage of humanitarian aid and not obstruct its access to the civilian population, as well as to criminalize attacks on relief convoys or targeting their crews.
The statement pointed out that the Zionist entity has been continuing for two years, to impose an applied and unjust blockade on the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, in a systematic attempt to starve the people of the Strip and break their will, in addition to push them to forced displacement from their land in flagrant violation of international norms, laws and charters.
It praised the courage of the participants in the “Sumud Flotilla”, who set the most wonderful examples of human solidarity, defying the blockade imposed by the criminal Zionist entity against more than two million civilians in the Gaza Strip, stressing that the universal human conscience is still alive.
The statement pointed out that the goal of the Flotilla is to highlight the suffering of the Palestinian people in Gaza, especially after the international community failed to break the blockade imposed on it and provide humanitarian assistance to the Palestinians, whose conditions have reached the point of famine and mass collapse.
The Ministry renewed its call on the international community to play its role in stopping the genocide and the blockade imposed on Gaza and to hold the Zionist entity accountable for its ongoing crimes that threaten international security and peace.
It also reaffirmed the Republic of Yemen’s firm position and support for the Palestinian people in Gaza by all possible means until the end of the aggression and the lifting of the blockade.
