MEDITERRANEAN, Sept. 30 (YPA) – The “Global Sumud Flotilla” continued on Tuesday its sailing in the Mediterranean Sea, aiming to deliver humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip.
The flotilla has approached an area where the Israeli occupation has previously intercepted humanitarian ships off the coast of the Strip.
The flotilla’s account on the “X” platform Tuesday published statements by Rose Ekma, founder and director of MiGreat, a refugee rights group and flotilla participant.
Ekma confirmed that the flotilla has reached 150 nautical miles from Gaza, noting that “this area is known as the point where the Israeli occupation has routinely hijacked boats.”
Ekma called on “Israel” to lift the blockade on Gaza, stop the genocide, and allow the entry of food, as the Palestinian people are suffering from hunger.
The flotilla’s advance comes amid announced Israeli preparations to deal with it. The official Israeli Channel 10 reported on Sunday that “Israel” was preparing to “take control” of the ships of the flotilla, which is expected to reach the Gaza Strip’s shores within four days.
