OCCUPIED PALESTINE, Sept. 23 (YPA) – The Prisoners’ Information Office warned, on Tuesday, of the serious health condition of life-sentenced prisoner Basil Abdel Rahman Al-Asmar (49) years old, from the town of Beit Rima, north of Ramallah, after he lost 37 kilograms of weight and suffered from severe dental problems, as a result of what it described as the policy of starvation and systematic medical neglect practiced by the occupation prison administration.
The office explained that the prison administration prevents prisoner Al-Asmar from visiting his lawyer, noting that he was beaten after some previous visits, which forced him to completely refuse them. It pointed out that his family has no way to check on his condition except by following his news through the released prisoners.
The office held the occupation authorities fully responsible for the life of prisoner Al-Asmar, stressing that what he is being subjected to represents a flagrant violation of international conventions and the human rights of prisoners.
