Britain, Canada, Australia announce official recognition of Palestine

SANAA, Sept. 21 (YPA) – Britain, Canada, and Australia announced, on Sunday, their official recognition of the State of Palestine.

In the details, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced their official recognition of the State of Palestine, in a radical shift in the United Kingdom’s foreign policy.

Starmer said in a video speech published on the X platform: “To revive hope for peace for the Palestinians and the two-state solution, the United Kingdom officially announces its recognition of the State of Palestine.”

For his part, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney announced that his country has recognized a Palestinian state.

During the recognition, the Prime Minister said that Israel is working systematically to prevent the establishment of a Palestinian state.

He added that Canada’s recognition of the State of Palestine comes within a coordinated international effort to achieve a two-state solution.

For its part, Australia recognized a Palestinian state today and said that this comes within the framework of international efforts aimed at achieving a two-state solution.

Australia said that establishing diplomatic relations and opening embassies with Palestine depends on the Palestinian Authority’s commitment to achieve reforms.

It added that the international community is working to develop a peace plan that allows for the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip and building the capabilities of the Palestinian state, and ensuring Israel’s security.
