Spanish Public Prosecutor opens investigation into Israeli crimes in Gaza

SANAA, Sept. 18 (YPA) – The Spanish Public Prosecutor’s Office announced, on Thursday, that Madrid will investigate human rights violations in Gaza, in cooperation with the International Criminal Court, which has sought to issue arrest warrants for Israeli officials on charges of war crimes.

Spanish media reported that Spanish Attorney General Alvaro Garcia Ortiz authorized the opening of an investigation into Israeli crimes in Gaza.

In a statement, the Spanish Public Prosecutor’s Office said that “the State Attorney General issued a decree establishing a working group to investigate violations of international human rights law in Gaza.”

“This aims to collect evidence and make it available to the competent authorities, thus respecting Spain’s obligations regarding international cooperation and human rights,” the Public Prosecutor’s Office added.
