LONDON, Sept. 17 (YPA) – U.S. President Donald Trump has arrived in the United Kingdom for a “historic” state visit, under heightened security and amidst calls for demonstrations against him.
Air Force One landed at London’s Stansted Airport on Tuesday evening, where Trump and his wife, Melania, were greeted by an honor guard before heading to the U.S. Ambassador’s residence for the night.
Speaking to accompanying journalists, Trump described the visit as “massive” and emphasized his long-standing friendship with King Charles III.
Despite the formal nature of the visit, protestors were a visible presence. Dozens demonstrated in Windsor, projecting images of Trump and sex offender Jeffrey Epstein onto Windsor Castle. Thousands of protestors are expected to march in London today, Wednesday.
According to the official schedule, Trump is set to meet with King Charles III and Queen Camilla at Windsor Castle on Wednesday. On Thursday, he will travel to the prime minister’s country residence for talks with Prime Minister Keir Starmer on political and economic issues.
