GENEVA, Aug. 29 (YPA) – The United Nations Office for Human Rights has expressed grave concern over the Israeli occupation army’s declaration of Gaza City as a “dangerous combat zone,” warning of catastrophic humanitarian consequences for the civilian population.
In a statement on Friday, the office said that nearly a million people remain in Gaza City, including thousands trapped in its devastated neighborhoods, while others have nowhere to seek refuge amid ongoing military operations.
The UN affirmed that this decision exacerbates the tragic situation in the Gaza Strip, where civilian suffering is increasing due to a lack of food security, safe drinking water, and health services.
The organization called for urgent protection for civilians and for ensuring unhindered access for humanitarian aid.
