Israeli occupation continues its policy of starvation engineering in Gaza

GAZA, Aug. 26 (YPA) – The Gaza-based government media office declared on Tuesday that only 467 aid trucks out of a total of 3,000 were allowed to enter the Gaza Strip over the past five days from Thursday to Monday.

In a statement, the office explained that these trucks were looted and stolen amid what it described as “deliberate security chaos created by the Israeli occupation” as part of a policy that aimed at engineering starvation and chaos to break the steadfastness of the Palestinian people.

According to the monthly statistics published by the office, The total number of trucks that entered Gaza during the past thirty days did not exceed 2,654 trucks out of an expected 18,000, which is less than 15% of the actual needs of the population.

The statement pointed out that the occupation has been continuing to prevent the entry of sufficient aid shipments and closing the land crossings for nearly six consecutive months, exacerbating the humanitarian catastrophe.

“The occupation is preventing the entry of 430 basic food items, including eggs, meat, fish, cheese, dairy products, fruits, vegetables, and nutritional supplements, in addition to dozens of other items vital to children, the sick, and pregnant women,” it added.

According to the media office, the Gaza Strip needs more than 600 aid trucks daily to meet the minimum needs of its population of almost 2.4 million, in light of the near-total collapse of infrastructure due to the ongoing war.

The office’s statement held the Israeli occupation and its allies “fully responsible for the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza,” calling on the United Nations, Arab and Islamic countries, and the international community to take urgent action to open the crossings and ensure the flow of aid, especially essential foodstuffs, baby formula, and life-saving medicines, and to hold the occupation accountable for war crimes against civilians.
