SYDNEY, Aug. 24 (YPA) – The Australian capital, Sydney, along with several major cities, witnessed massive rallies on Sunday with tens of thousands of participants showing solidarity with the Palestinian people and denouncing the ongoing aggression against Gaza.
Protesters carried banners demanding an end to the genocide against Palestinians, urging the Australian government to take a firm stance by halting arms exports to “Israel”, holding those responsible for war crimes and human rights violations accountable, and pressing for an immediate end to the war while allowing the entry of food and medical aid into Gaza, which is facing escalating famine.
Representatives of human rights organizations, political parties, as well as members of Palestinian, Arab, and Muslim communities, also took part in the rallies, stressing the importance of sustained popular pressure in shaping Australia’s foreign policies, especially amid the worsening humanitarian situation in Gaza.
