SANAA, Aug. 23 (YPA) – All members of the Dutch government from the New Social Contract party resigned, succeeding their party colleague, Foreign Minister Caspar Veldkamp, who resigned due to the failure to impose sanctions on Israel.
NOS television reported that in solidarity with Veldkamp’s position, all ministers and acting state ministers from the aforementioned party will resign from their positions, including Acting Deputy Prime Minister Eddie van Heum, Acting Ministers of the Interior and Education Judith Ottermark and Ebbo Bruins, Acting Minister of Health Daniel Jansen, and four other ministers.
This decision came due to a lack of consensus in the government on the issue of imposing additional sanctions against Israel in light of the military operation in the Gaza Strip.
Veldkamp announced his resignation earlier, saying that he did not see the possibility of imposing additional sanctions against Israel and that he would determine the political path within the government independently.
Prior to that, the Dutch government discussed the possibility of imposing sanctions on Israel for several hours but did not reach an agreement.
