Hamas warns of forced displacement of Palestinians from Quds city

SANAA, Aug.19 (YPA) – Hamas movement has warned of the dangers of mass displacement threatening thousands of Palestinians in the vicinity of occupied Quds city, as a result of accelerating Israeli settlement projects in the eastern part of the city.

Haroun Nasser al-Din, a member of the movement’s political bureau, said on Tuesday that almost 7,000 citizens residing in 22 Bedouin communities are at risk of forced displacement, primarily the residents of Jabal al-Baba and Wadi Jamal communities, who are threatened with isolation and uprooting.

He explained that these plans are part of the “E1” settlement project and the “Sovereignty Road” project, which aim to separate Quds from its Palestinian surroundings and sever the West Bank, thus preventing the establishment of an independent and geographically contiguous Palestinian state.

The Hamas leader considered the continuation of these projects to constitute a crime of forced displacement and a clear violation of international law and Palestinian rights, emphasizing that their goal was to impose colonial settlement facts on the ground, obliterate Jerusalem’s identity, and alter its historical landmarks.

He called on the Arab and Islamic nations and the free people of the world to shoulder their responsibilities and take urgent steps to halt these projects, including escalating political and economic pressure on the occupation government.

Hamas official stressed that the Palestinian people was committed to the option of resistance and steadfastness, and that Judaization projects would not succeed in changing its identity.
