TAIZ, Aug. 19 (YPA) -A recently circulated image shared by activists on social media sheds light on the dire conditions faced by civilians in western Taiz governorate, an area controlled by UAE-backed forces aligned with Tariq Saleh.
The photo depicts a disabled man relying on a donkey to fetch drinking water in Mawza district — a stark symbol of the escalating suffering caused by an ongoing drought that has pushed groundwater levels to drop to their lowest recorded levels.
Activists on social media emphasized that a crisis in basic services and living conditions has overwhelmed the daily lives of citizens, without any attention from local authorities or the government loyal to the Saudi-led coalition
They demanded immediate action, including the drilling of new wells and the rehabilitation of existing ones, to provide a sustainable solution and ensure residents have access to water.
According to local sources, the resources and revenues of the Tihama districts in Taiz are allegedly being plundered by pro-coalition officials, who are accused of using the funds for personal gain at the expense of the local population.
