Widespread protests, strike in “Israel” demanding end to war on Gaza

OCCUPIED PALESTINE, Aug. 17 (YPA) – Hundreds of Israeli settlers and protesters blocked roads in several locations and gathered outside the homes of Israeli ministers across occupied Palestine, in a response to a general strike called by families of captives held by the resistance in Gaza. The strike aims to pressure the occupation government into reaching a prisoner exchange deal.

Hebrew-language media reported that Zionist protesters gathered in front of the homes of Netanyahu’s cabinet ministers, including the Minister of Education, in the center of the occupied territories.

They also blocked the Ra’anana intersection located north of Tel Aviv and Highway 1 at the entrance to occupied Jerusalem.

Hebrew media reported that protesters blocked many routes across the occupied territories by burning tires.

They demanded an end to the war in the Gaza Strip and the return of Zionist prisoners.

Families of Israeli captives stated: “The state has come to a halt because it can no longer continue down this path. We have paid a heavy price, and we cannot allow more families to bear the same burden.”

They stressed that time is running out for the Israeli captives, warning that they could be lost forever if the government does not act immediately to secure their release.

“We are tired of slogans and delays. Only the people will bring the hostages back home,” the families said.

As part of the strike plan organized by families of captives and those killed in the war on Gaza, protest actions are set to begin at the grassroots level—starting with dozens of private companies, then expanding to include local authorities, universities, and commercial and economic institutions. All have reportedly agreed to allow their employees to participate in the demonstrations.

According to organizers, the strike will begin at 6:29 a.m.—the exact time the October 7th attack began.
