Pro-coalition recruit killed in Shabwa airstrike

SHABWA, Aug. 14 (YPA) – A recruit from the UAE-funded Shabwa Defense Forces (SDF) was killed on Wednesday in an airstrike the terrorist elements loyal to the Islah Party carried out in Shabwa province.

Pro-Islah activists circulated a video clip showing a military vehicle belonging to the SDF in Shabwa, destroying it and killing a soldier inside. The footage did not mention the exact location.

The video, filmed by a terrorist, showed the recruit firing at the drone in an attempt to bring it down.

The SDF’s factions have been targeted by drones and IED ambushes that al-Qaeda elements and Islah-affiliated militants have carried out in various areas, including al-Masina’ah in Al Saeid district, since seizing control of the party’s camps following the ouster of the Islah governor at the end of 2021.
