Hadramout tribes close main road to Abida tribe members in Marib

HADRAMOUT, Aug. 09 (YPA) – Tribes in Hadramout province, eastern Yemen, announced on Thursday the closure of the main road to the Abida tribe in Marib and their businesses in response to the continued detention of Mohsen bin Hussein al-Attas for nearly two years.

A statement issued by the Hadramout’s Nahd and al-Attas tribes explained that the road closure came after the deadline for al-Attas’ release expired, which was agreed upon at a meeting held at the end of last July.

The road closure decision took effect in the al-Manba’ath area of Wadi al-Ain and Hawrah on Thursday, preventing the return of gas tankers to Marib. The statement threatened to take further escalatory measures if the kidnapped person is not released.

This incident comes amid the security chaos in areas under the Saudi-led coalition’s control due to the absence of state authority since 2016.
