Woman killed, child injured by lightning strike in Hajjah

HAJJAH, Aug. 06 (YPA) – A woman died and a child was injured by a lightning strike on Tuesday in Al-Jumaymah District, Hajjah province, northern Yemen.

A local source reported that lightning struck the village of Bani Al-Dhab in the Bani Mufaddal area, resulting in the death of 58-year-old Khairiya Muhammad Saghir Al-Majsh and the injury of 9-year-old Aisha Muhammad Ahmad Al-Majsh.

The source added that this incident marks the fourth death and second injury due to lightning strikes in the past two weeks, urging citizens to exercise caution during thunderstorms by turning off mobile phones and staying away from open areas and tall objects such as trees for their own safety.
