Israeli security official doubts success of Gaza aid airdrops

OCCUPIED PALESTINE, July 26 (YPA) – An Israeli security official on Saturday expressed doubt over the effectiveness of airdropping humanitarian aid into Gaza, according to a report by Hebrew’s Kan News.

“Such an attempt has already been made, but it ended in complete failure—just like the port we built,” the official said, referencing a previous initiative to deliver aid.

The official confirmed that Israel will permit foreign nations to carry out humanitarian airdrops over Gaza in the coming days.

The official added that the Coordination of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT), the Israeli agency responsible for facilitating humanitarian access into Gaza, is working closely with the Israeli military to coordinate future airdrop operations.

According to the official, Jordan and the United Arab Emirates are expected to participate in the upcoming airdrops.

“Israel” had previously allowed humanitarian supplies to be airdropped into the Gaza Strip, but the method was deemed costly and unsafe. In past attempts, several Palestinians were reportedly killed after aid packages fell directly on them during the drops.
