Women’s anger ignites Aden’s streets with chants against coalition

ADEN, July 06 (YPA) – Hundreds of women in Aden city, south of Yemen, took to the streets on Saturday in an angry protest for the third consecutive month against the starvation and service-related war the coalition imposed on citizens in the southern provinces.

In a protest rally, the participants who toured the streets of Ma’alla city of Aden held up banners demanding that the Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) and the coalition-backed Aden government, headquartered in Maashiq Palace in Crater, provide electricity, water, education, and health services, and pay overdue salaries to employees.

The female protesters chanted anti-coalition slogans and called for women’s revolution to be united from Aden to Taiz, reaching all southern provinces, for reclaiming their legitimate rights and end the suffering of citizens due to power outages lasting nearly 20 hours a day in Aden and the lack of drinking water in Taiz.

They managed to breach a security barrier imposed by the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) forces to restrict their access to Madram Street in central Maalla, while refusing to raise any slogans in support of southern groups implicated in the citizens’ suffering.

Aden Women’s Revolution protests continue for the third straight month, demanding that the Aden government provide basic services, improve economic conditions, and curb the ongoing collapse of the local currency, which has lost its purchasing power.

This has contributed to the rising prices of basic commodities in the market, while the government continues to impose four price increases on fuel derivatives, amid the coalition-funded government’s continued disregard for the suffering of citizens in Aden and the southern provinces, and its inability to provide fuel for power plants.

This comes amid the silence and complicity of the STC’s leaders residing in the UAE, who claim to represent the people of the south in the PLC and the government.
