OCCUPIED PALESTINE, June 27 (YPA) – “Israel” has officially acknowledged its failure to assassinate Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, during the recent war on Iran.
The acknowledgment came from Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz during an interview with Channel 13.
He stated that “Israel” had intentions to assassinate Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, but the opportunity never presented itself.
“If he had been in our sights, we would have taken him out,” Katz said, adding, “We wanted to eliminate Khamenei, but there was no operational opportunity.”
Asked whether the assassination decision had been made at the level of the Security Cabinet, Katz responded: “This was the policy — the Prime Minister and myself.”
In response to a question about whether the decision had American approval, Katz said: “We don’t need such American approval.”
These statements come in the wake of a ceasefire between Iran and “Israel”, following an unprecedented two-week military escalation that included the exchange of missile strikes and air raids on vital facilities.
The conflict escalated with intensified reciprocal strikes, amid reports of attempts to assassinate Ayatollah Khamenei.
