Hamas: Israeli occupation commits genocide in Gaza amid shameful international silence

GAZA, May 14 (YPA) – The Islamic Resistance Movement, Hamas, on Tuesday, accused the Israeli occupation government of committing a systematic crime of genocide against the residents of the Gaza Strip by continuing the comprehensive blockade, amidst the escalating military aggression that has been ongoing for months.

In a press release, the movement stated that the occupation continues to completely close the Gaza Strip’s crossings, preventing the entry of food, medicine, water, and fuel for more than seventy days without interruption, coinciding with intense bombing operations across the Strip.

It described the situation as “a complete scene of a genocide being committed before the eyes of the world.”

The movement noted that the “Zionist enemy” is using starvation tactics against more than two and a quarter million people, in clear defiance of the will of the international community and the resolutions of the United Nations and its organizations, which have repeatedly called for the opening of the crossings and the entry of humanitarian aid.

Hamas criticized what it described as “the shameful international silence and blatant inability” to stop the ongoing crimes in Gaza, stressing that the spread of famine across large areas of the Strip proves the failure of the international system and its dangerous retreat from its legal and humanitarian responsibilities.

The movement explained in its statement that the people are being killed daily, either by direct bombing or as a result of a policy of starvation, while UN institutions are content with issuing formal condemnations that fail to deter this entity, which has been stripped of all values.

Concluding its statement, the movement called on the Arab League, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and the United Nations to take urgent and effective action to halt this “brutal genocide” and to hold the occupation leaders accountable as “war criminals” before international courts.
